What if my area can't afford sewing classes?

What makes you think people in your area can't afford classes?

Why do you think that? Do you think it's really true? Are you hanging out with people who don't have any money?

How can we re-frame your beliefs around this?

Let's start with how you feel.

-Do YOU feel sewing classes are valuable? Would you pay for sewing classes for yourself or someone?

If not, you'll have a hard time selling them. They have to be valuable to you first.

-Do you think it teaches lifelong skills that even someone who is poor or frugal would find valuable?

Hemming and altering heir clothing could save a lot of money.

-Do you think maybe someone else could gift a sewing class (or course) to someone who can't afford it?

I do because it's happened with my classes!
Let me tell you my stories about 3 students.

Examples:

1st - I had an aunt gift a fashion course of mine to her niece for her 15th birthday.

She turned out to be the star of the fashion show and ended up interning with me over the summer making fancy gowns for a steampunk line I had designed.

2
nd - I also had a student from a poor family who was enrolled by a lady who was dying of lung cancer.  She bought they classes for here as a going away present.

And she died before the young girl finished was taking the class, my her husband ended up being the videographer at the fashion show.

3
rd - I had a grandma (that was a facebook friend to my husband best friend from gradeschool) buy a course for her 6 year old granddaughter.

She ended up being a star student and included as a bonus feature in 8 of my Kids Sewing DVDs.

There are also people that CAN afford classes in your area.

I've had moms that where nurses, bankers, music teachers, and business owners sign their daughters up for classes.

You just need to reach THOSE people who can afford your classes and don't dwell on those that can't.

Also remember...pricing can be variable! You can make adjustments.
