How much time do I need to teach sewing classes?
It really depends...
This will vary depending on where you are teaching. Are you teaching in your home, and rented space, or traveling to different locations?
IN HOME
-in your home in a dedicated space
-let in students (5 minutes before class)
-teach your class (1 to 3 hours)
-say goodbye (10 to 15 minutes)
-need to set up a space – add 30 minutes for set up a break down
IN STUDIO
-drive there (?)
-if you are already set up
-arrive, turn on lights, go pee
-greet students (5 minutes before class)
-teach your class (1 to 3 hours)
-say goodbye (10-15 minutes)
--drive home (?)
TRAVELING
-drive there (?)
-bring in machines (30 minutes)
-set up the area (30 minutes)
-greet (5 minutes before class)
-teach your class (1 to 3 hours)
-say goodbye (10-15 minutes)
-drive home (?)
Is there anything else needed?
YES! Time spent managing your marketing.
-talking to people
-sending emails
-posting on facebook
-updating website
-creating ads
-ordering biz cards
It's important to set aside at least a couple hours a week to do this “marketing stuff” because it is the core of your business.
It's how you will get new students.
You can:
-Do it all at once on what you call “your marketing day”.
-Space it out over 5 days - 20 to 30 minutes at a time.
-Some weeks may need more time while others need less.
Your Next Step!
In my 12-Week Start Up Training, I'll walk you through the marketing stuff!
-how to build a simple website
-create eye catching graphics for marketing
-ideas of what to post on social media
(including setting up a simple facebook ad on autopilot)
I hope you will join me in that course because I am really looking forward to helping you.
Also stay tuned for tomorrow's question.
It's about whether you need money to advertise or not.
