Step #5 - Get The Word Out About Your Classes

Welcome to step number five today. It's about getting the word out!

There's a few different ways you can do this and we're going to take the approach that's really simple and the same as what a dance studio or karate studio would do.

If you've ever taken your kids to one of those (classes), then you know they always give you the first class free.

This is a great way to get more students in trying out your classes.

And then after they tried it, they can sign up for more. So you can decide if you want to do this for your classes as well.

Now what you want do here is actually get business cards, postcard or even a flyer made. And on there you would say "sewing classes", then you'd have your name, and your contact information. Then you could put "first-class free".

So this is really your step today.

If you want to just do word of mouth and just let people know, that's fine too.

But if you have something that's in your hands that's printed that you can hand to them, then that's going to make it easier for them to remember.

Also...

  • You can take a flyer or a postcard or a business card, any kind of printed material you have, and you can put it up on a bulletin board.

  • You can bring those around to churches, the co-op, or grocery stores

  • You can bring them to work or send them with a friend or a sister or a husband and they can give them to people at work.

You just want to think of as many ways possible that you can get the word out and come up with these different printed materials that don't have to cost a lot.

Business cards can be ordered online or you can even just make a flyer and print it off. Maybe choose a hot pink paper or a color that catches some attention.

So this is really it for step number five. I want you to think about all the details and get them down on a piece of paper or make that flyer.

Remember to think back to everything (like the previous steps). Who do you want to teach, what the class and the projects are going to be, and where it's going to be.

On your printed materials you might want to include the address and of course your phone number too.

Don't forget the note that you have a "free first class".

And you might want to note that you have ongoing classes and that there are certain price, such as 4 classes for $99 or whatever you feel comfortable charging.

All right, so that is it for step number five. I'll see you in the next video. Bye. Bye.
