Step #9 - Make Samples To Show Students
Hey, we're now on step number nine. This one is to make samples to show students.
In my studio I have a rack of projects...
Students can look at this rack of projects, so that they can see what they learn how to make in each course that I offer.
If you're having a free class and you want continual students to sign up for a 4 week, 8 week or 12 week class, then it's a good idea to have samples you can show them.
So maybe you have five projects they will be making, and if you can show them hanging on a rack or on a table, then they're going to be more eager to sign up for those classes, if they know what they're going to learn how to make.
Now if you can't make the samples, then you can also have photos of what they're going to be making. This is something that I do with all of my classes as well.
I have brochures that show what is in each different course.
Say they're doing "Glamour Girls", then it shows the five little projects.
Or if it's a six month course, then when you open up the flyer it has all the different projects, say 10 projects that they'll learn how to make. They can take the brochure home, look at it, keep it on the wall or even bring it to the fabric store.
It just gives them something to like look at and remember, so they know what they are making next time. So this is just something that is fun to do for your students.
It makes your classes easier to teach as well.
You can pull out your samples and show them...
- how to do the lace
- how to fold up the hem
- how to insert the elastic
- the placement of something
It just makes it easier to be a teacher when you can show that garment or project and then also when you are looking for enrollments. Showing them a sample also helps because then they know what they're actually paying for.
Now since we're talking about sewing projects right now, I just want to mention again that I have sewing curriculums.
If you click on the link below, you can check out my sewing curriculums. You can see all the photo shoots that I've done and what I'm teaching in each one of those courses.
And if you decide to use my sewing curriculums, you'll also get flyers that you can print off and show to your students. So you don't necessarily have to make the samples, if you have a flyer.
All right, so that is it for today and I will see you in our final video. Bye. Bye.
